Buoyed by a summer of optimism and backed in the transfer market after Patrick Cryne's investment put the Club on a firmer financial footing, manager Simon Davey embarked on his first full season in charge as Coventry City arrived at Oakwell in the early August sun.

	08.11.2006 2005 - 2006 - A RED STORM RISING A new season started with renewed optimism around Oakwell after a summer which had seen Andy Ritchie confirmed as manager; Paul Hayes, Brian Howard; Richard Kell and Danny Nardiello sign on the dotted line and a genuine feeling that something could be achieved on the pitch after years of hurt.

	08.11.2006 1996 - 1997 - THE PREMIERSHIP BECKONS When the 1996-97 season began few people in Barnsley never mind the rest of the country imagined that nine months later the Tykes would be celebrating their first ever promotion to the top flight.
	08.11.2006 1978 - 1982 - BACK UP AND CHALLENGING In the history of Barnsley Football Club few men have had an immediate effect on the club as did Allan Clarke when he joined the club in July 1978 and the legacy he left still remains at the club.

	08.11.2006 1914 - 1939 - THE WARS Since winning the F.A. Cup in the 1911-12 season Barnsley had become a force to be reckoned with in the second division.
	08.11.2006 1911 - 1912 - FA CUP SUCCESS The 1909-10 season finally brought Barnsley to the attention of English football as they reached the final of the F.A. Cup.
