BARNSLEY defender Paul Reid has today left Oakwell and rejoined Carlisle United on an emergency loan.

The 26-year-old will stay at the League One promotion hopefuls until May 4, 2008, after falling down the pecking order at Oakwell.

Paul started his career as a youngster at Carlisle before joining Rangers in 2000. He enjoyed loan spells with Preston and Northampton Town before signing for the Cobblers on a permanent basis in 2003.

He moved to Oakwell in the summer of 2004 for an undisclosed six-figure fee and went on to skipper the Reds to promotion from League One two years ago. He has made 128 first team appearances for the Reds.
