BARNSLEY Football Club will reduce season ticket prices for the next Championship league campaign in a major move to strengthen its links with the community, it was announced today.

Adult and concession season tickets in all parts of the ground are being reduced by £10. Match day ticket prices are frozen.

And, in a move to grow long term support of the club, youngsters under the age of 11 (at the start of the new season), will be able to watch the Reds free when accompanied by a paying adult.

The moves to provide affordable football for all are part of a long-term strategy by the club's board to build on the cup successes of this season and establish the club as an integral part of the community and the town's fabric, with roots firmly planted in schools and neighbourhoods.

Owner Patrick Cryne said: "The club's march to Wembley in this season's FA Cup showed that the town and its outlying communities are proud of their football team and want to be part of it. Taking over 34,000 fans to the semi-final proved that.

"We want those very same supporters from Kendray to Ward Green; from Staincross to Darfield , to be part of us. Bringing the club and our local communities together in a closer relationship can only be good for all of us and our decision to reduce season ticket prices is a gesture towards this.Together we can achieve success and bring a vibrancy to the town."

Next season adult fans will be able to buy a season ticket in the Pontefract Road End for £290. Elsewhere in the ground adult prices are:

East and West Upper £360
East Upper (Family Area) £350
East and West Lower £310
Disabled Corner £220

Concessions for fans who qualify for pensions range from £170 to £200 depending on which part of the ground.

A juvenile under the age of 11 - when accompanied by a paying adult - goes free in any part of the ground. For additional juveniles the club has halved the cost to £25. Tickets for juveniles under the age of 18 are £120 in all parts of the ground (£100 if the seat is in the family area).

Mr Cryne, who was born and bred in Barnsley, educated at a local comprehensive school and earned money by delivering coal before going to university, added: "As a lifelong fan of this club, it has been a very important part of my life and I know there are many supporters who feel the same.

"We want youngsters to share in this very special feeling a town has for its local club and help us build a great future together. The town is about to undergo a massive transformation in terms of reshaping itself to attract visitors and investment and I want the club to be an essential component of all this.

"Overall season tickets represent terrific value for money. The average price per game could be as little £12.61 - a saving of nearly £7.50 per game on matchday admission prices."

The announcement is part of a bright new future at Oakwell. This week the club announced a new main club sponsorship deal with the Barnsley Building Society.

U11'S FREE SEASON TICKET PROMOTION TERMS & CONDITIONS
The free season ticket can only be claimed when purchasing an adult season ticket. Only one free U11s season ticket will be issued per adult season ticket. Any additional U11s will be charged at the normal rate of £25. Any child U11s must be accompanied by an adult when entering the Stadium.
An adult is classed as a person over 18 years of age.The free U11s season ticket cannot be claimed in conjunction with any Under 18 season tickets.
In certain circumstances proof of relationship with the U11s may be required to validate the season ticket application
