SOUTHAMPTON have shocked the Championship by appointing Dutchman Jan Poortvliet as their new manager.
Poortvliet replaces Nigel Pearson at the St Mary's Stadium. Poortvielt played for Holland at the 1978 World Cup and has spent time with the Dutch U21 side.
