DICKIE GIVES HIS SUPPORT
CRICKET legend Harold 'Dickie' Bird has given his backing to the Reds' 'Stronger Together' campaign.
A lifelong Barnsley supporter and still a regular at Oakwell, Dickie said: "I think it is a tremendous move by the Club and marvellous for the youngsters of Barnsley. I have always been one for giving young people the opportunity and this campaign can only be good for the Club and for the town.
"Youngsters are the future of our Club and we have to make sure they come and watch our team. This can only be good for the future of Barnsley Football Club.
"Hopefully the town will get behind the Club and give it plenty of support. It can only be a good thing for Barnsley Football Club to encourage so many youngsters to come and watch games at Oakwell".
A former footballer and cricketer, the 75-year-old is arguably the world's best know umpire after officiating in test matches and one-day internationals for more than 20 years. He umpired in 66 Test matches, which was a world record at the time and 69 One Day Internationals including three World Cup Finals. He retired from umpiring at an international level in 1996.
Adult prices at Oakwell start at just £290.00 and with free tickets for juveniles aged under eleven there has never been a better time to join the Reds. Phone 01226 211 211 - Stronger Together
