A talented defender capable of playing at full back or in the middle, the youngster is tipped for a bright future in the game. Rob spent much of 2005/2006 on loan with Conference side Scarborough and gained rave reviews from his time on the East Coast.
Robert burst onto the first team scene during the 2006/2007 campaign when he put in a string of impressive displays in the Championship. He clocked up eight games for the first team and established himself as a real talent. He also enjoyed a brief spell on loan at Halifax Town early in the 2006/2007 campaign.
Robert struggled to make the breakthrough during 2007/2008 as the arrivals of Stephen Foster, Dennis Souza and Lewin Nyatanga blocked his path to the first team. He enjoyed a two game loan at Rochdale in 2007 before signing for Grimsby on a season-loan in early 2008, clocking up 29 games for the Mariners.
