BARNSLEY manager Simon Davey has pulled off another stunning swoop into the transfer market with the arrival of Argentinean star Hugo Roberto Colace from Newell's Old Boys.
A defensive midfielder, Hugo has represented Argentina at all levels up to Under 21 and is very highly rated in his homeland. He skippered the Argentinean squad that finished fourth in the 2003 U20 World Cup, featuring in all six matches for his country. Manchester United superstar Carlos Tevez and Liverpool's Javier Mascherano were part of the same squad.
Reds manager Simon Davey told www.barnsleyfc.co.uk: "This is a massive coup for our Club. Hugo is a tremendous talent and has a very good pedigree after playing for the Argentinean national team right through to U21 level.
"He is technically an outstanding footballer and we cannot wait to start work with him here. We are delighted to have brought him in and sure that he will have a big part to play for us next season".
The 24-year-old started his career with Argentinos Juniors in his homeland before moving to Newell's Old Boys in 2006. He made 32 appearances for the Old Boys before spending a year on loan with Estudiantes. Hugo joined up with Flamengo on loan last season and went on to help the Brazilian side win the title.
